Relationship is a two way process, when two people interact and cherish each other’s company. You tend to develop resilience and trust when you respect each other’s identity. Respect each other’s way of being, embrace differences and yet feel complete the way you two connect spiritually. This is called as Co-existence. It is a sign of healthy relationship.
With the increasing stress and pressures, people have forgotten to give due importance to their partners and their efforts. What they see and respect is what they have been adding. This kind of a mindset shows “I, Me, Myself” kind of an Attitude and is known as Passive Co-existence. This is a place where two people are together but one is always compromising and sacrificing while the other is taking things for granted and overpowering. In our society, we usually see things this way, that men are overpowering women at both home and work front. And with continuous passive dominance has lead to a gender gap in society and the general harmony is lost somewhere. This is a sign of regressive societies.
Then there is Active Co-existence, where we both are treating each other as equal, accepting diversities and mindsets. We aren’t taking each other for granted, expressing gratitude and are appreciating each other for the efforts they are investing.
Our society is largely moving from passive to Active Co-existence. This is important for overall harmony and wisdom.
